BULK FLOW AND THROUGHPUT MEASUREMENT

OPTIMIZE YOUR PROCESS WITH BULK FLOW
AND THROUGHPUT MEASUREMENT FROM BERTHOLD

The radiometric bulk flow measurement from Berthold are used to measure flow rates and throughput on all kinds of conveying systems. The major advantage of our systems is that the measurement performance remains very stable over years of operation with repeatability of ±1 %. Thus frequent recalibrations are not required. Due to the non-contacting nature of the measurement and the lack of moving parts, encrustations, dirt, wind or changing belt tension don’t affect the bulk flow measurement.
When combining the measured conveyor load with a velocity signal, the mass flow rate can be determined very accurately and without any negative influence from dust, temperature, vibrations, varying particle sizes or chemical properties of the measured material.

Bulk flow measuring principle by Berthold!

The radiometric belt weigher works non-contacting, with a scintillation detector installed beneath and a shielded source mounted above the conveying system. Radiation is directed through the measurement point and attenuated as it passes through the conveyor. The extent to which it is attenuated depends on the conveyor load.
Besides the typical measuring arrangement with point source and rod detector, we can also work with rod sources, which are mainly used when higher accuracies are required, thus allowing us to achieve optimum measuring results for every single application

The specialist for bulk flow measurements

Besides current flow rate the systems also provide total solids mass (tonnage) and batch measurements. Applications of Berthold belt scales are found in all different bulk handling industries from mining to the building materials industry, from chemical plants and power plants to the pulp & paper industry. Customers benefit from improved control in mixing processes, compliance to delivery contracts and optimal utilization of loading capacities. Worldwide there are more than 2000 systems successfully in operation.
